Katerina Vlasaki

Katerina Vlasaki is Head of the Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion of the Region of Crete.

She holds a PhD and an MSc in Public Policy Analysis, with a specialization in social policy and employment policies, from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA/EKPA). She has completed her postdoctoral research in the same Department, focusing on the same thematic fields. She is a graduate of the Department of Sociology at the University of Crete and has also studied at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Birmingham (UK), as well as at the Migration Policy Centre of the European University Institute in Florence. During her studies, she was awarded scholarships from the Onassis Foundation and the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).

She has extensive research experience and has actively participated in conferences, workshops, and projects in Greece and across the European Union. Since 2011, she has been serving as an executive of the Region of Crete, specializing in social policy at both national and interregional levels, developing partnerships and networks within the EU. In this context, she has coordinated and implemented initiatives related to the regional strategic planning for poverty alleviation and social inclusion, social and solidarity economy, social entrepreneurship, migrant integration, active ageing, prevention and combating child abuse, gender equality, social innovation, and sustainability.
