Scientific Director of the 1st Research Axis
Christos Papatheodorou is a Professor of Social Policy at the Department of Social Policy of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences with a subject area of Social Policy and Director of the Postgraduate Program of the same Department (since 2017). He was a researcher at EKKE and has long-term research experience in important research projects either as a researcher or as a scientific director in Greece and abroad. He was the scientific director of the Social Policy, Poverty and Inequalities Research Unit, of the Observatory of Economic and Social Developments of the Institute of Labor of the Greek Confederation of Unions of Greek Trade Unions (2010-2015). He served as an Expert (2009-2010) in the Cooperation–Socioeconomic Sciences and Humanities Committee of the 7th Framework Programme for Research & Technological Development, and a member of the thematic committee for Social Sciences and Humanities for the specialization of NSRF actions. He was the scientific manager of the 1st research axis (Income & Living Conditions of Households in Crete) of the research programme “Expertise Research in Support of the Social Inclusion Observatory” (2020-2023). He has a significant writing career, which includes books and scientific articles on social policy in Greece and Europe and on the phenomenon of social and economic inequalities. He has many years of experience in projects related to the present, in corresponding Observatories, in the design of special social policy issues related to the development of social development programs, as well as many years of research, teaching and writing experience.
