Eugenia Petropoulou, (F) is Assistant Professor of Sociology (Social Transformations in Contemporary Rural Space) at the Department of Sociology, University of Crete (Greece).
She acquired her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Manchester, UK specializing in Rural Sociology. She holds an MA in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Durham, UK. Her recent research and writing (both Greek and English) focuses on Rural Transformations, Social Innovations in Short-food supply chains, Rural Sustainable Livelihoods and their social dimensions as well as on local stakeholders’ perceptions on social, economic and environmental issues.
Since 1998 she has participated as a project team member and researcher in numerous funded EU research projects specializing in qualitative research such as the construction of qualitative interview guidelines and analysis etc. Currently, she is the PI for the UoC in the H2020 project SMARTCHAIN: Towards innovation-driven and smart solutions in short food supply chains (Project No. 773785-2) and a member of the UoC research team in project IDAology- Pastoral life in the mountainous communities of Ida (Psiloritis Geopark, Crete, Greece); augmented reality and digital repository of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the mountain (Project Τ2ΕΔΚ-03995, EU Structural and Investment Funds, Ministry of Development and Investments, Partnership Agreement 2014-2020).
