Includ EU (AMIF) pilot action of cultural mediation-interpretation to non-EU countries immigrants
The Region of Crete (Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion), in collaboration with the 7th Regional Health Unit of Crete, implements a pilot cultural mediation-interpretation action for immigrants from non EU countries in the framework of the European project Includ EU of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and IOM Greece.
As part of the pilot action, there are info points in the two hospitals of Heraklion, PAGNI and Venizelio, which support mediation-interpretation between immigrants and medical, nursing, and administrative staff to facilitate the service and their rights and health services. They also provide information on hospital services provision. The mediation takes place in four languages: Arabic, Kirmanji, Farsi and Dari and is part of the effort to strengthen the social inclusion of immigrants from non EU countries in the regions.
The pilot action is supported by the Development Agency PLOIGOS and will last until August 2022. It is funded by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
