Mapping of the Child Care Infrastructure in the Region of Crete

Mapping of the Child Care Infrastructure in the Region of Crete by the Managing Authority of the “Crete” Programme, in collaboration with the Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion of the Region of Crete, carried out a mapping of the needs of childcare (infants - children - nurseries) at the level of the Region of Crete.

The survey was completed in March 2023.

This mapping will support the formulation of selecting criteria of the "Crete" Program 2021-2027 for Child Care infrastructure in Crete.

Award distinction for the Observatory from the Bravo Sustainability Awards 2022 in the field of SOCIETY (BRAVO SOCIETY)

A very important distinction was won by the Region of Crete in this year's Bravo Sustainability Awards 2022, which took place at the Old Parliament House (Greek: Μέγαρο της Παλαιάς Βουλής, Paleá Voulí), as part of the Bravo Sustainability Week 2022, organized by the QualityNet Foundation. The distinction concerns the Pillar SOCIETY (BRAVO SOCIETY), for the Action: "Mapping mechanism of social services, needs and pockets of local deprivation for the formulation of social inclusion policies in the Region of Crete", of the Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion supported by the Laboratory of Social Analysis and Applied Social Research (EKAEKE) of the Department of Sociology of the University of Crete.

Great participation and interest in the presentation of the results of the surveys of the Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion of the Region of Crete

The Region of Crete - Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion, in collaboration with the University of Crete - Laboratory of Social Analysis and Applied Social Research (EKAEKE) of the Department of Sociology, held a Conference to present the results of the research for Living Conditions in Crete, Needs Assessment & Deprivation Pockets in Crete: Research Findings and Spatial Social Planning Perspectives ". The meeting highlighted issues related to the monitoring of poverty and social exclusion in Crete.

3nd teleconference on the mapping of Social Services and Social Programs in Crete

The Region of Crete, following the meetings with the social institutions, held the 3rd teleconference on the mapping of social services and social programs in Crete, within the responsibilities of the Regional Social Inclusion Observatory (Observatory). The teleconference was held with the presence of the Deputy Regional Governor of Public Health and Social Policy, Lambros Vamvakas, with the participation of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete and the 8 Holy Metropolises of the island.

First results of the Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion of the Region of Crete (Video)

The Observatory for Social Inclusion of the Region of Crete, presented the first research results of its work, through teleconference with the presence of the Regional Governor of Crete St. Arnaoutakis. The Governor of Crete referring to the work of the Observatory, he pointed out the value of the results of the research conducted in collaboration with the University of Crete as well as the cooperation with all local authorities, for the most effective analysis of needs and the promotion of targeted solutions, with local focus and particular intervention per social group.

The Region of Crete held the first teleconference on the mapping of social services and social programs in Crete, within the responsibilities of the Regional  Observatory for Social Inclusion of the Region of Crete (Observatory). The teleconference was held in the presence of the Deputy Regional Governor of Public Health and Social Policy, Lambros N. Vamvakas, with the participation of the Deputy Mayors of Social Policy and representatives of the social services of all the Municipalities of Crete. The Scientific Team of the University of Crete also participated in the meeting.
